The March 2005 field season consisted of initial reconnaissance survey work in the Southern Sector of the Free Zone. The results were summarised within two papers, referenced (with links to pdf versions) below. Thanks are due to Mark Milburn and Stefan Kroepelin for their contributions to this season of fieldwork.

Small funerary complex, consisting of an enclosure containing a number of funerary monuments of different types. Quasi-linear "ridge"-tpe monuments are embedded in the perimeter (e.g. centre left). Note the dense concentration of quartz within and to the right of the enclosure.
